Manchester United’s staff and players made
their way to Spain on Saturday. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was forced to leave a
number of players including Odion Ighalo at home, however. The Red Devils party are heading to the Kempinski
Hotel in Estepona, Spain for a week-long warm-weather training camp. The Marbella Football Center – a venue favoured
by Bundesliga clubs – will play host to the team’s training sessions. Solskjaer led a 20-man travelling party from
Manchester Airport at lunchtime via a private terminal. Scott McTominay and Axel Tuanzebe have missed
a number of weeks through injury but were fit enough to be included for the trip. Nathan Bishop, who was signed on a deadline
day from Southend, has also travelled. The likes of David de Gea, Victor Lindelof,
Bruno Fernandes, Nemanja Matic and Juan Mata were not among the travelling party. They were away from Manchester during the
opening period of the winter break and will make their own way to Marbella. A host of players have been left out of the
squad. Paul Pogba is currently rehabbing in Dubai,
while Marcus Rashford and Lee Grant are also injured. “Marcus and Paul are not ready yet to join
in the training,” Solskjaer declared earlier in the day. “Lee Grant unfortunately has had an injury,
so he will require surgery, so he will be out for two or three months, so hopefully
he’ll get back before the end of the season.”
